What we help with

Online therapy for trauma and PTSD

Trauma is not defined by the event. It is defined by what the event left behind. An accident, loss, violence, a difficult birth or a hard childhood can all leave your nervous system braced for danger long after the danger has passed.

Signs you might recognise

Trauma therapy does not mean reliving everything in detail. A good therapist starts with safety and stability and only goes further when you are ready.

Recognising yourself in a few of these does not mean something is wrong with you. It means it may be worth a conversation.

  • Unwanted memories, flashbacks or nightmares
  • Avoiding reminders of what happened
  • Feeling numb, detached or unreal
  • Being jumpy, on guard or easily startled
  • Strong guilt or shame about what happened
  • Sleep and concentration problems

How therapy helps

Your therapist will suggest an approach based on what you want to change. Common ones include:

  • 1

    Trauma-focused CBT

Process the memory safely and update the meanings attached to it.

  • 2

    EMDR

A structured method that helps the brain refile distressing memories so they feel like the past.

    How it works

  • 3

    Stabilisation and grounding

Skills for staying present and regulating your body, used before and alongside deeper work.

Three things you can try today

  1. Grounding: name five things you see, four you can touch, three you hear.
  2. Keep routines predictable while things feel shaky.
  3. You decide what you share, and when. That is true in therapy as well.

Common questions

Do I have to talk about what happened in detail?

No. You are always in control of what you share. Trauma therapy begins with safety and coping skills, and some methods, such as EMDR, do not require a detailed account.

Can trauma therapy be done online?

For many people, yes. Trauma-focused CBT and EMDR are both offered by video. Your therapist will check with you that online is suitable and that you have a private, safe place for sessions.

It happened years ago. Is it too late?

No. People work through events from decades earlier. The passage of time does not make therapy less useful.
