Anxiety test (GAD-7)
The GAD-7 is a short questionnaire that clinicians use to screen for generalised anxiety and to track how symptoms change over time. It takes about two minutes.
- 2 minutes
- 7 questions
- Private: scored on your device
You mentioned thoughts of being better off dead or of hurting yourself
Please do not carry that alone. If you are in danger or might act on these thoughts, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line now.
Your score
0 out of 21
Minimal anxiety
Your answers suggest few anxiety symptoms over the past two weeks. If something still does not feel right, that is worth listening to. You do not need a high score to talk to someone.
Mild anxiety
Your answers suggest mild anxiety symptoms. It can help to keep an eye on how you feel and repeat the test in a couple of weeks. If worry is getting in the way of daily life, talking to a therapist is a sensible next step.
Moderate anxiety
Your answers suggest moderate anxiety symptoms. A score in this range is where clinicians usually recommend a proper conversation with a professional. Anxiety responds well to therapy.
Severe anxiety
Your answers suggest severe anxiety symptoms. Please consider speaking to a therapist or your doctor soon. This is very treatable, and you do not have to manage it alone.
Talk it through with a therapist
Useful if you want to show the result to your doctor or therapist.
This questionnaire is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Only a qualified professional who knows your situation can diagnose a condition. Your answers are scored in your browser and are not stored or sent anywhere.
